I have a torn meniscus, knee cartilage
Hi guys, well, I've been training an atwist, then my knee was twisted and i feel lotsa pain at my knee and when i do any movement involving the knee, it hurts and it DOES NOT swells up. I met a doctor, and he diagnosised me and I was confirmed that my meniscus is torn. I just wanted to know, does anyone here ever experienced meniscus torn? I would like to ask how much time does it takes you guys to heal and could trick back? Thanks!!
Was it a flap tear or a bucket tear? Meniscus sits between your femur and your tib/fib. You need to avoid high-impact stuff for a while or it'll never heal. You also need to avoid excessive knee flexion & extension - walking, running, kicking, etc. because of the joint pivot will constantly aggrevate the cartilage. Depending on the severity of your injury, your recovery time could vary drastically. Make sure you go through the proper therapy - if your doctor is just having you sit on your ass while it heals, go to a sports doctor and get a second opinion.
I dont know if its a flap or the bucket tear.. IDK, but he says, the knee will recover in 6 weeks.. and yeah, the knee does hurt when I walk or even move my knee, I have to use the crutches to help me walk..What is a good therapy for the cartilage tear? thanks
Physical therapy is beyond my scope of practice. Plus I wouldn't trust anybody telling me how to recover an injury over the Internet - you need to see a physical therapist who can see your injury up close with MRIs and work with you personally.
Sorry, but I always say trickers are all idiots if they don't take the time to build a solid core and train their stabilizers. Knee injuries are like an inside joke in the tricking community. Guys who've been in karate for 10 years and then start tricking will naturally have developed those muscles amazingly more than a backyard tricker, but even still you're all nowhere near as solid as say an olympic gymnast, and you should be because you throw crazier shit on harder surfaces.
No sympathy from me
OK,some correction up there, my knee didn't swell up.. {EDITED}
And I've met an orthopedic SPECIALIST which he looked at my knee real close and did an MRI.. It's a minor tear and he says that in 6 weeks, I could trick back.. So, after that I'm planning on to exercising my knee?
OK guys, does wearing the knee support helps in anyway? I don't want to move the knee too much!
Braces help but you dont want your body to become dependent on the brace.
i had orthoscopic knee surgery in january
pretty minor stuff
i sometimes wear a brace when the knee is bothering me but i try to use it as little as possible
if for no other reason then because it gets in the way and is not comfortable at all

Believe me,you cant trick after 6 weeks. I had my surgery 3 months ago and i still cannot do much. It doesnt hurt while i attempt to trick,but after. Hmm...to be honest it doesnt really even hurt,just feels stingy and uncomfortable,which leads me to think i might injure it again, so really the problem for me might be me thinking about it too much. Nontheless my knee is gradually starting to become as it originally was.
